Halliburton promotes education with a key focus in literacy, STEM, and business engagement
Every year, Halliburton donates to U.S.-based elementary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities through the Education Advisory Board (EAB). We look for diverse programs that demonstrate excellence by preparing students with advanced skills for the oil and gas industry and factor in opportunities to promote creativity, global perspective, and diversity and inclusion in STEM. Halliburton, the Halliburton Foundation, and the Halliburton Charitable Foundation all contribute to promoting education.
Halliburton (China) Energy Services established the Hope Primary School, located in the suburbs of Lingjiangzhen Township, Cangxi County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province. Over the summer, Halliburton volunteers led approximately 40 students in six grades through fun and educational camp activities. Volunteers prepared lessons that covered cosmic exploration, geographic knowledge, Western festivals (Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and Thanksgiving), and sports activities.
Youth Engaged in Service (YES) Prep is a network of more than 20 public charter schools in the Houston area. The Yes Prep network aims to boost the academic performance and success of children from underserved communities. In the weeks leading up to the first day of school at North Forest Elementary, a new campus, Halliburton volunteers helped teachers and staff deliver books to classrooms, sort supplies, and set up the library. The volunteers established the car-rider-identification system to welcome the students, and after the first day of school, Halliburton sponsored a catered lunch for the teachers and staff in recognition of the important work they do in our community.
In Cairo, Egypt, Halliburton volunteers renovated Kattemaya Public School. The school was in disrepair and deemed unsafe for children. The volunteer team removed and disposed of all the on-site waste, repaired and repainted the walls and restrooms, corrected electrical hazards, and installed landscaping in the garden. Now, the students have a better learning environment.
