At Halliburton, the leap from intern to full-time employee provides a life-changing adventure that shapes tomorrow’s leaders in the energy sector. Halliburton internships equip ambitious professionals with hands-on training, dedicated mentorship, and real-world opportunities to thrive in the fast-paced energy services industry. Meet Ankush Bhalla, Marcelo Ramos, and Monica Rocha, three remarkable individuals who began their journeys as Halliburton interns. Today, they are full-time employees making significant contributions to the company’s success.
Ankush Bhalla dove into his Halliburton journey as a coiled tubing assistant operator during his second year at university. His passion for travel and new cultures drew him to Halliburton for its global presence and opportunities. Ankush's internship played a pivotal role in his career path. He built strong bonds with colleagues and immersed himself in a culture that values family and openness.
Seventeen years later, Ankush serves as the vice president of Halliburton Indonesia, a role where he shapes the business directly and mentors the next generation of talent. He encourages new professionals to embrace challenges and enjoy the journey — no need to rush. One of Ankush's most impactful assignments took him to West Africa, where he gained invaluable experience and developed a deep appreciation for the continent's cultures. Outside of work, he enjoys sports, writing, and spending time with his son.
Marcelo Ramos chose Halliburton for its unmatched growth opportunities in petroleum engineering. His internship with the Development Excellence Engineer Program (DEEP) gave him a front-row seat to a variety of career paths and daily collaboration with experienced professionals. Marcelo's time at Halliburton sharpened his leadership, problem-solving, communication, and sales skills.
Currently, Marcelo excels as a technical sales advisor and field service coordinator in Ecuador. He counts the launch of the country's first managed pressure drilling operation as one of his top achievements. The project required meticulous logistics and technical expertise. Marcelo's international assignments taught him resilience and adaptability, which shaped him into a versatile professional.
Monica Rocha discovered Halliburton through the Society of Women Engineers, inspired by positive experiences shared by fellow members. She researched microbial enhanced oil recovery as part of the LSU Halliburton Scholar program, an initiative for cultivating future Halliburton employees. Monica continued her Halliburton journey and completed separate internships in drilling fluids and cementing. These experiences introduced her to outstanding leaders and a supportive network, and they echoed the camaraderie she cherished in the United States Marine Corps.
Monica urges new professionals to stay tenacious and always seek improvement. As a cementing associate technical professional, Monica's favorite project involved laser cladding water throttling valves, where she learned about Halliburton's Elite™ cement mixing/pumping trucks and collaborated with an exceptional team. Monica's steadfast focus on safety, a value she brought from her Marine Corps experience, guides her career.
Halliburton's internship program provides more than a glimpse into the industry. It delivers hands-on experience, mentorship, and continuous growth. Ankush, Marcelo, and Monica’s stories highlight the company’s dedication to nurture talent and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. The diverse career paths and emphasis on professional growth in oil and gas help Halliburton attract new talent, retain current employees, and help ensure a bright future for the energy sector.
