Unwanted Solids in an offshore oil producing sandstone reservoir

Challenge

  • An offshore oil producing sandstone reservoir 
  • FracPac completion (160 ft zone, BHT ~195°F) 
  • Once well was brought to production, it immediately “sanded up” with fines
    • No gravel flowback was detected

Solution

  • HCl-HF acid treatment to remove near-wellbore damage 
  • SandWedge® ABC service was pumped as tail-in of the acid treatment

Result

  • Well produced at the expected production rates (+3,000 BFPD) and fines production was minimum (below maximum acceptable level)
